The Cat Bar as a place to drink appears in many parts of the world. It can also easily generate a euphemism for an expression of sarcasm or a cutting remark which slips out sometimes from a competitive spirit.
In this painting Ian is attempting to have fun with the chaotic scenarios developing from when groups get together in bars or clubs and chaos reigns!
He highlights, through a combination of cat idioms the little cliques which form, the over drinking fraternity, fighting like cat and dog and the cat who gets the cream, to name but a few.
