Deer Resting

artwork_10

‘Deer Resting’ was completed in 2009 in oils on canvas and marks the beginning in an impressive development of a unique style created by Ian.

The influence for the animal style of depiction stems from Ian’s personal admiration of the works by German Expressionist painter, Franz Marc who sadly was prematurely killed in the first world war. The scene is of deer returning to the hills and resting for water. The fields in front of them hide rabbits adjacent to the contours of the land.

The original painting measuring 20”x20” is retained for exhibition purposes.

150 signed and authenticated limited edition prints of the work were originally released for purchase, some of which are still available at £180 directly from Somerville Arts or selected art retailers.

Ian Middleton’s studio can be found at Wharfe Brow, Manor Park, Burley in Wharfedale, West Yorkshire LS29 7HJ
